The IRDL organises scientific research activities for engineering in Brittany, particularly in the fields of marine renewable energy and naval construction. ENSTA Bretagne, Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées Bretagne (formerly ENSIETA), is a French national postgraduate engineering research institute. This multi-disciplinary engineering school operates under the auspices of the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA). In conjunction with ENSTA ParisTech, it forms a group of institutes of advanced technology, recognised for outstanding performance in their fields of expertise: energy, transport, marine engineering and major industrial systems.
