The general theme of the institute is based around the naval environment, and more specifically issues around sustainable development in the maritime environment. Specialised in sciences and techniques of the sea, the naval school research laboratory (IRENav) is part of the naval energy and mechanics department, which regularly receives contributions from doctoral students.
